I'm raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

This October, I'm taking part in The Great British Dog Walk. Every mile I walk, and every pound I raise, will help train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people.

Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated.

It costs £25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so by taking part in The Great British Dog Walk, I am helping to raise funds to train more dogs. Any donation, however large or small, will really help.

Thank you. x

My Updates

TEAM JAFFA:

Friday 31st Oct
Well - here we are on the last day of the Great British Dog Walk 2025! I didn't think we'd smash our targets when I set them. Little Jaffa and her team have done so well.
Jaffa and I wish to give a great big shout-out to our neighbours, Sandra and Martin, who have been (and continue to be) stalwart friends to us both. Jaffa knows them as 'Auntie San and Uncle Mart' and gets super-excited when I mention their names... San and Mart have been massively supportive in Team Jaffa's fundraising efforts during October.
I think we're hoping for at least as good an effort for this very worthwhile cause in future events... Great British Dog Walk 2026?
A couple of photos will follow ere long :)
Well done to all those other dog-walkers who have contributed! xx

After a sunny walk today

Friday 24th Oct
Jaffa 'reading her newspaper' (aka 'sniffing the breeze!) after a lovely sunny walk this morning. What a nice change!

... a well-earned snuggle in her fleecy blanket...

Tuesday 21st Oct
... with her Hearing Dogs for Deaf People bandana in the foreground... :)

After that wet walk...

Tuesday 21st Oct
... dry and fluffy again after a good cuddle in her warm towel :)

Wet pup in her wet coat after a wet walk!

Tuesday 21st Oct
Not to be deterred by the horrid wet weather of recent days, little Jaffa can be seen here after her walk - which she enjoyed!

TEAM JAFFA:

Monday 13th Oct
Little Jaffa's legs may be short but her enthusiasm for walks, sniffs and chasing stuff are limitless! She has now covered (at least) 54 miles for this fundraiser! We set a comparatively low target of 50 miles so - thanks to Team Jaffa and my dear neighbours who are an integral part of the team - Jaffa and I think we'll raise our distance target to 100 miles... We'll give it a good go, anyway!
