Hi there!

I’m raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People by taking on the 28 Challenge, and I’ll be streaming 28 times in February to do it! This cause is incredibly personal to me because I know firsthand how life-changing an assistance dog can be.

At 23, I was diagnosed with severe hearing loss and started using hearing aids. It was overwhelming—every sound I had missed suddenly became unbearably loud and echoed in my brain. Recurrent ear infections caused further hearing loss, making it impossible to wear hearing aids for weeks at a time.

Mornings were a nightmare as I constantly missed alarms and woke up in a panic, terrified of being late. Even my favorite hobby, playing video games, became frustrating due to the lack of accommodations for hard-of-hearing players. Social situations left me anxious and isolated because I often misheard or misunderstood conversations.

Then, in November 2023, my assistance dog, Ocean, entered my life and transformed everything. Ocean wakes me up on time, alerts me to important sounds while I work from home, and has given me the confidence to enjoy life again. She’s encouraged me to get outside, socialize, and exercise, while also easing much of the anxiety I used to feel.

Hearing dogs like Ocean cost £25,000 to train, and the 28 Challenge is an amazing way to help fund this life-changing work. These incredible dogs alert deaf people to important sounds like alarms and provide the companionship and emotional support needed to combat isolation and anxiety.
