I'm raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

This October, I'm taking part in The Great British Dog Walk, because I am deaf and I know how isolating and lonely that can feel. My friend Jan has a gorgeous Hearing Dog and he is so clever! Every mile I walk, and every pound I raise, will help train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people.

Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated.

It costs £25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so by taking part in The Great British Dog Walk, I am helping to raise funds to train more dogs. Any donation, however large or small, will really help.

Thank you.

My Updates

Nearly there

Friday 24th Oct
Well it is day 23 and I’ve walked 27 miles so far. I’m also very close to my fundraising target, as I have had quite a few cash sponsors which will be sent by cheque in a lump sum at the end.  If you can spare a donation, however small, it will all help to provide training for a hearing dog.  It will help spur me on to keep walking to the end of the month too! Thank you.

Late night walk

Monday 6th Oct
It had to be a late night walk today as I’ve been really busy. Please sponsor me if you can spare a little cash. I’m so impressed by my friend’s hearing dog. He is so clever! And my friend speaks about the difference he has made to her life. She is much less isolated than before.
It costs £26000 to train a hearing dog. And they can save a life.

It’s nearly time!

Wednesday 24th Sep
Soon it will be time to start walking with Maya to raise funds for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.  I’m doing this because I have seen how important a hearing dog can be for a deaf person. The bond and partnership between deaf person and their dog is life-changing!  Please donate to support my effort.  Whether you can give a small or large amount - every penny helps.
Thank you
