28 Challenge 2026

I'm raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

This February, I’m taking part in the 28 Challenge by crocheting a pair of fingerless gloves every day – 28 days, 28 pairs – with a fundraising goal of £150. Every pound I raise will help train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people.

Hearing dogs are specially trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, like smoke alarms, alarm clocks, intruder alarms, and baby monitors. Beyond that, they bring love, companionship, and emotional support, which can make a huge difference for people who might otherwise feel isolated.

It costs £25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so your support really counts. Any donation, however big or small, will help me reach my goal and give deaf people the gift of a loyal hearing companion.

Please note: donations are made in support of the 28 Challenge and are not a purchase of gloves. The gloves I crochet will be sold separately, with all proceeds going to charity.

Thank you so much for your support! 💛

My Updates

Learning to crochet, giving back, and taking on new challenges!

Monday 12th Jan

2025 was a big year for me in more ways than one. It was the year I finally taught myself to crochet, something I had always wanted to do. What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into a passion. I even set up a crochet club at work, and over the year, I completed a number of projects that I’m really proud of.

Crochet has always been more than just a craft for me - it’s a way to create, to focus, and most importantly, to give back. I’ve always wanted to combine my love of crochet with a charity initiative, and this year I finally have the chance to do just that.

Another highlight of 2025 was taking part in the Nuclear Races mud run in support of Guide Dogs UK. That experience left me with a huge sense of pride and admiration for trained guidance dogs and the incredible support they give to those who need them. While my upcoming challenge is for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which is a distinct cause, my respect and love for trained assistance dogs in all forms remains the same, Whether it’s guiding, alerting, or offering companionship, these dogs truly change lives.

This February, I’ll be taking part in the 28 Challenge, crocheting a pair of fingerless gloves every day to raise funds for Hearing Dogs. It’s the perfect way to combine my love of crochet with supporting a charity that makes a real difference in people’s lives: giving deaf people companionship, support, and life-changing assistance.

I’m excited to share this journey here, and I hope my work inspires others to get creative and give back in their own way.
