I'm raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
This October, I'm taking part in The Great British Dog Walk for our 2nd year with (still!) little Jaffa. Every mile we - and I include here my dear neighbours - walk with Jaffa, and every pound we raise, will help Hearing Dogs for Deaf People provide practical support services for those with hearing loss and train more life-changing hearing dogs for people that need them.
Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated. And, also, pretty wonderful for people such as myself who are blessed with good(ish) hearing.
It costs £26,000 to fully train a hearing dog. Any donation, however large or small, will really help.
