HD Elmo's Last Hurrah Fundraiser

Epic Elmo will be 12 on Howloween and will be hanging up his jacket soon after, having shared many adventures with me for more than 10 years. Before he starts drawing his well-earned Bonio pension we've decided to celebrate with one Last Hurrah Fundraiser, The Great British Dog Walk, walking every day in October.

Every mile we walk, and every pound we raise, will help train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people.

Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated.

It costs £25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so by taking part in The Great British Dog Walk, we are helping to raise funds to train more dogs, one of which will be with us within weeks as Elmo’s much-anticipated successor. Watch this page for clues 😉🐾 Any donation, however large or small, will really help.

Thank you

Deb and Elmo x🐾❤️

Elmo's Ambles

Monday 13th Oct
Our first blog
Here we are after 12 days of walking and I haven't given any updates - so let me put that right! We've decided to capture as many of the beautiful places we are so lucky to have on our doorstep through the glorious month of October. Check out our photos. As they say, a picture paints a thousand words.

Week 1 - Oct 1st to 7th
Elmo and I bimbled along on our twice daily walks, taking in the early October colours in the sunshine. And not forgetting Amy, the first named storm of the season with horizontal rain lashing us. We were "lucky" enough to be on crowd control duties 🤣 in the car park at our local GP surgery for the first flu vaccine clinic. Elmo always raises a smile with patients and staff alike. 🐾❤️

All told we managed to clock up 23 miles, I think, so are on track to meet our target of 93 miles in the month and we're very pleased to receive our first donations from generous friends - thank you Team Gino (also doing the GBDW) and Pam.  Did we tell you we love you?xx

If you can keep your excitement at bay, we'll post another update after week 2.
