28 Challenge 2026

I'm raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

This February I am taking part in the 28 Challenge, and every pound I raise, will help train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people.

Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated.

It costs £25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so by taking part in The 28 Challenge, I am helping to raise funds to train more dogs. Any donation, however large or small, will really help.

Thank you.

Challenge 28: 28 Tiny Hats, Stitched From Experience

Saturday 17th Jan
For Challenge 28, I’m crocheting 28 premature baby hats — and this challenge is deeply personal to me.

I was born four months premature. Long before I could understand it, I was one of those tiny babies who needed extra care, warmth, and strength just to get through the earliest days of life. Because of that, this project isn’t just about crochet; it’s about connection, gratitude, and giving back.

Premature babies are incredibly small and incredibly strong. Something as simple as a soft, handmade hat can help keep them warm and supported during a time when every little detail matters. As I crochet each hat, I think about how much care must have surrounded me at the very beginning of my life — and how meaningful it feels to now create that same comfort for others.

Alongside this, I’m using this challenge to raise money for Dogs for the Deaf. Their work training hearing assistance dogs changes lives, providing independence, safety, and companionship to people who need it most. While the cause is different, the heart behind it is the same: helping individuals thrive with the right support.

Each stitch represents resilience, hope, and care — whether that care comes in the form of neonatal support, a tiny crocheted hat, or a highly trained assistance dog.

By taking on Challenge 28, I’m honouring my own beginning while trying to make a difference today. Together, 28 tiny hats can become something truly meaningful.
