I’m supporting a fantastic charity to raise money for life-changing Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

This October, I'm taking part in The Great British Dog Walk. Every mile I walk, and every pound I raise, will help Hearing Dogs for Deaf People provide practical support services for those with hearing loss and train more life-changing hearing dogs for people that need them.

Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated.

It costs £26,000 to fully train a hearing dog, but £70,000 to support the dog throughout its lifetime. Any donation, however large or small, will really help.

Saturday 31st Oct
Today was the final walk of The Great British Dog Walk so wonderful Preston had a fabulous walk at National Trust Attingham. 
A foggy morning led to a beautiful day and a walk through the deer park with the deer displaying their splendid antlers. 
Preston had plenty of Halloween based photos opportunities too. 

Day 11 - A Sunday stroll along the Thames

Sunday 11th Oct
Greeted with another glorious October day we decided to take a stroll along the Thames. We started in Marlow, and headed towards Temple Lock, returning via a wooded walk. Preston got to say “hello” to some friendly four-legged friends and completely ignored the swans, geese, and horses that we had to pass. 
We are trying not to repeat any walk during October so finding new places always makes for an interesting walk - and Preston is thoroughly enjoying all of his new adventures. 

Day 8 - Glorious walk to Winchmore Hill and Penn Estate

Friday 9th Oct
Another beautiful walking day with our gorgeous boy. Today we took a walk from Penn, through Common Wood, over to Penn Street, Winchmore Hill, and the Penn Estate. The beauty of The Chilterns never fails to impress.

Day 7 - Wet Wednesday Walk!!

Wednesday 7th Oct
We woke to a wet day today, but it’s only water and we have all the gear so we headed to our favourite National Trust property, Cliveden. 
We had a lovely 4 mile walk through the woods with great views along the river and across the fields. Preston looked gorgeous as he posed looking down on the parterre!

Day 6 - A walk in the Chilterns

Tuesday 6th Oct
Another gloriously sunny day today so we set out to walk in the beautiful Chilterns. Our walk took us across fields with stunning views and through the cool ancient woodlands. We are blessed to leave in such a beautiful part of the UK with great walks that we can enjoy.....while raising vital funds.

Day 5 - Phoenix Trail in the sun

Monday 5th Oct
We took a beautiful 10 mile walk along the Pheonix Trail today, starting in Princes Risborough and heading towards Thame. Before the start of the trail we came across the 12th century church of St. Michael and All Angels with its floor laid with tiles from Penn (and Tyler’s Green). Along the way Preston encountered many cyclists, a horse, rabbits, guinea fowl, and people; all were passed with Preston showing his best behaviour. 
The sun continues to shine……long may that last!!

Day 3 and it’s still dry and warm!!

Saturday 3rd Oct
A lovely walk today at National Trust Hughenden with Preston as he bounded through the woods and fields, stopping occasionally for a polite “hello” to fellow four-legged friends. Impeccable behaviour as always, and even a chance meeting with another HD Volunteer couple. 

Day 2…..and the sun is still shining

Saturday 3rd Oct
Day 2 took us on a lovely walk in the ancient woods of Common Wood in Penn.  Historically frequented by King Henry VIII, and latterly by HD Preston!!

And we're off!!

Thursday 1st Oct
Well the sun has shone and the walking shoes were tied....today I walked in the beautiful woods in and around Penn with our gorgeous HD Preston, made extra special as today he celebrates his first birthday!
So Happy 1st Birthday Preston, and Happy First Day of Walking to all you walkers out there. Fingers crossed that the weather stays kind!!
