I'm raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

This February I am taking part in the 28 Challenge, and every pound I raise, will help train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people.

I was matched with my own Hearing Dog, a gorgeous cheeky black Labrador who goes by the name of Gerry! He came to me in November 2022 and my life has improved for the better thanks to him. He has really brought a light to my life and has made me feel less lonely as well as raising important deaf awareness to everyone we meet. I want to give back to the charity because they put so much work into training dogs and matching them with people like me. I cannot imagine life without Gerry.

Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated.

It costs £25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so by taking part in The 28 Challenge, I am helping to raise funds to train more dogs. Any donation, however large or small, will really help.

Hi everyone 👋🏻 hope you’re well. Just a wee update on my 28 Challenge for Hearing Dogs. Firstly, thanks SO much for your support so far - it’s really much appreciated especially as I’ve found this quite tough at points. I am loving doing this for you all and hoping you are finding it interesting, as it is for me going around Edinburgh and exploring places I’ve not been to! It’s great fun. 🤩 

Unfortunately, I’ve decided to press pause for this week as I am feeling quite run down and my energy has completely dropped. I think I’ve just pushed myself a bit as I am doing this whilst doing my full time job. I plan to pause for a few days and then will resume sharing pictures/videos by the weekend so don’t worry, I’m not stopping just yet! 🥰

HD Gerry and I are looking forward to share with you what Edinburgh has to offer! We will be visiting each postal code area from EH1 through to EH28 and show you something of interest in that area. Be that an historical landmark or something fun to do. Reiterating that I am not being paid to advertise these activities; it is from my own experience, my knowledge, my enjoyment that I want to share with you all. Some places I have been before, some are new places, so we are excited to show you these places! I will use a mix of older photos/videos as well as more current photos/videos. This will be posted on Gerry's Instagram (@hdgerry2022) but I will also update here, YouTube, Facebook, in case you cannot access Instagram. Information about our Challenge!

Hello there! So this year we are participating in the 28 Challenge again! In previous years we have done walks but this year will be slightly different. We live in Edinburgh, Scotland, so our aim is to visit a postcode area in and around Edinburgh, starting with EH1 and finishing with EH28! We will visit these areas and share with you different landmarks or places of interest, in case you decide to visit Edinburgh in the future! Disclaimer: I’m not being paid to advertise these visits; just simply want to share with you different places.
