We're raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
This October, Albert and I will be taking part in The Great British Dog Walk. While we walk everyday, this time we are walking to raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf people. Every mile we walk, and every pound we raise, will help train more life-changing hearing dogs.
Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to
important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and
even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love,
companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf
people can feel lonely and isolated.
Albert and I have been together for nearly 10 years now, and he has completely
changed my life since day 1. Albert is absolutely amazing. He is very clever, loving, and my constant companion. I honestly don't know what I would do without him. He has given me the
confidence to achieve things that I wouldn't have done without him. He has made
me a more confident person, and also he has made me visible! Heโs my ears, my
best friend, my companion, my whole world and I love him to bits. Thanks to Hearing Dogs, partnerships like ours are possible. This charity truly changes lives, and we hope to raise as much as
we can to help them.
It costs ยฃ25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so by taking
part in The Great British Dog Walk, we are helping to raise funds to train more
dogs. Any donation, however large or small, will really help.
As you are aware that Albert is a hearing dog, so it's very important that he
and (all hearing dogs) are allowed to have time, just to enjoy being a
"dog", doing things they love. A walk is one of these things that
Albert loves to do.
Albert will wear his PitPat tag which will record how many miles he walk each
day including at home, out working etc. My watch will record how many miles we
walk together on a walk. Remember Albert being a spaniel, he'll do more miles
than me! I'll share some photos/videos of our walk. Our miles for each walk
during October will be vary everyday.

We only did one walk today as we had a busy day ahead, but it was a beautiful morning ๐

Monday 27th Oct ๐ Day 26 (26/10/2025) of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐ฅพ๐พ๐โจDonโt think Albert has realised the clocks have gone backโฆ โฐ He woke me up at 5:27am, staring right at me like, โCome on, itโs breakfast time!โ ๐คฃ๐๐
A gloomy day! Bit of mixed, sun, drizzle and windy but that doesn't stop us having fun! ๐๐ถ๐๐
We enjoyed a lovely walk at our local park this morning and another gentle stroll later in the afternoon around housing estate ๐๐พ๐

Thursday 23rd Oct ๐พโจ Day 23 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐ฅพ๐Two lovely walks today at our local park ๐พ๐ฅพ๐
First, we walked through the park on the way to the hairdressers ๐โโ๏ธ A very kind staff gave Albert a dog treat ๐ I paused my watch while inside, then unpaused it when we left, walking back through the park on the way home โ 2.12 miles ๐๐ป
Later this afternoon, we enjoyed a gentle stroll around housing estate ๐ 1.06 miles ๐๐ป

Thursday 23rd Oct ๐ (22/10/2025)๐๐พโจ Day 22 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐๐ฅพ๐
Todayโs walk was extra special becauseโฆ itโs my birthday! ๐ฅณ๐ Even on my birthday, Albert and I are still walking for a cause that means so much to us โ raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People ๐โค๏ธ
We had a bit of a lazy birthday morning (well deserved! ๐ด), but later on we set off for a beautiful walk around a park with a stunning lake view ๐ณ๐ง My parents came with us too! โค๏ธ
When we started, it was dark, gloomy, and rainy ๐ง โฆ but then the sun made an appearance! โ๏ธ Yay! We loved every moment of it ๐ฅฐ
There were a couple of crows too โ weโre not sure if theyโre as friendly as our little crow friends back home ๐ฆ Some flew away, but one stayed close and happily enjoyed a few of Albertโs treats ๐คฃ I think word has spread in the crow world that Albert shares snacks! ๐ฆ๐๐พ
Albert had so much fun running around and sniffing all the new smells ๐ถ๐ย
It was such a stunning place โ truly a pawfect way to spend my birthday ๐๐พโจ

Wednesday 22nd Oct ๐โจ Day 21 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐ฅพ๐พFirstly, I just want to say a huge thank you for all your lovely comments โ Iโm slowly replying to each one, but please know that Iโve read and appreciated every single message ๐งก They really mean so much to us, so please keep them coming! ๐ฅฐ๐พ
We only did one walk this morning (and managed to miss the rain again โ yay! ๐ง๐), as we went out in the afternoon with our friends for a birthday celebration โ bowling and a meal ๐ณ๐
Albert was an absolute superstar as always ๐ He got very excited when I played bowling โ itโs been nearly six years since I last played, so Iโm a bit rusty! ๐คฃ He did get a little worried when I briefly left him with a friend while I took my turn, but I reassured him straight away that I wasnโt leaving him โค๏ธ Once he realised I kept coming back, he settled beautifully โ taking it all in his stride. He is absolutely amazing. Love him so much ๐ฅน๐พโค๏ธ

Monday 20th Oct ๐โจ Day 20 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐ฅพ๐พItโs my 'birthday' week ๐ฅณ๐ โ and we started it with an early morning walk at our local park ๐๐ถ๐๐
Luckily, we didnโt get caught in the rain! ๐ง๏ธ
After our walk, we spent most of the day at the shopping centre ๐๏ธ and managed to stay dry ๐
Albert was an absolute superstar as always ๐ โ he loves saying hello to everyone and made so many people smile โค๏ธ๐พ He truly brightens up every day ๐ฅฐย
We didnโt do another walk in the late afternoon since we spent around 3โ4 hours walking while shopping (oops! ๐
). As soon as we got home, Albert curled up for a well-deserved power nap ๐ค๐ด๐พ

Sunday 19th Oct Day 17 of our Great British Dog Walk โ Rest Day! ๐พ๐ฅพโจNo walkies for us today โ weโre having a much-needed rest day! ๐ด
After such a busy day yesterday (especially for Albert ๐พ), both of us are taking it easy and letting our paws and feet recover ๐พ๐
Rest days are just as important as walk/working days โ they help Albert:

๐ฆด Keep his joints healthy
๐ง Recharge his mind
โก Boost his energy for the next adventure

Day 16
Thursday 16th Oct Day 16 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจTodayโs adventure took us to Alton Towers to celebrate not one, but two birthdays โ mine (a pre-birthday treat, as itโs my birthday next week!) and my dadโs birthday today! ๐๐ฅณ Double celebration day! ๐ย
Albert was an absolute superstar as always ๐ He couldnโt join me on the rides, of course, but my parents looked after him while I went on.
Every time I came back, he greeted me with the biggest welcome โ tail wagging, happy paws, and all! ๐ฅน๐ถโค๏ธ
He had such a lovely time too, walking around the park and making both staff and visitors smile ๐
I tried my best to keep track of our steps โ pausing my watch while waiting in queues or on rides, and starting it again once I was back with Albert ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐ข

Wednesday 15th Oct Day 15 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจJust one walk at our local park this morning as we had a busy day ๐
Weโve got another busy day tomorrow, so weโre saving our energy for it ๐ชย

Albertโs PitPat: It came up with an error again ๐ฅบ but I think Iโve figured out why โ I clicked the button after taking the collar off instead of when Albert was wearing it ๐คฆโโ๏ธ Oops! I reckon he walked about 7 miles today though ๐๐ป๐พ

Tuesday 14th Oct Day 14 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจA quieter day for us today โ just one gentle walk at the park this afternoon, as we had a very long and exciting day at Chatsworth yesterday โค๏ธ
This morning, I went on the treadmill while Albert watched (and had a little nap! ๐ด๐ถ). I managed 2.01 miles ๐๐ป
Then we enjoyed a lovely 1.08-mile walk in the late afternoon ๐
Altogether: 3.09 miles

Monday 13th Oct Day 13 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจWhat a lovely day! We took the bus to Chatsworth with our friend and had such a wonderful time โจ๏ธ ๐ย
We started with a slow walk inside the Chatsworth House โ just 0.19 miles, but it took us 1 hour 43 mins ๐คฃ There was so much to see โ beautiful artwork, sculptures, and stunning rooms! Then we explored the gardens, full of gorgeous autumn colours ๐๐
Chatsworth House: 0.19 miles
Garden walk: 2.59 miles
Altogether: 2.78 miles ๐๐ป
Albertโs PitPat: It came up with an error for some reason ๐ฅบ but Iโd say he walked at least 10โ11 miles today! ๐ถ๐ชย

Sunday 12th Oct Day 12 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐ฅพ๐พโจWhat a beautiful day itโs been! ๐ Iโm absolutely loving all the colourful leaves everywhere ๐๐๐๐๐ โ letโs hope the weather stays like this for the rest of October! ๐งก
Just one walk for us today as weโve got a busy day ahead tomorrow, so we decided to take it easy and save some energy ๐
Todayโs walk: 1.51 miles

We also did a bit of gardening, and then had some fun playtime! ๐พ Albertโs been learning how to put hoops onto a kitchen towel pole stand โ heโs getting so good at it! Such a clever boy, keeping his brain busy ๐ง ๐

Day 11
Saturday 11th Oct Day 11 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐ฅพ๐พโจTwo lovely walks for us today โ one in the morning and one in the late afternoon ๐ค๐
The sun finally came out and the blue sky is back! ๐
It was quite chilly this morning, but later in the day it warmed up nicely. We did two walks (we went out in between walks, with Albert wearing his working uniform โ such a clever boy) ๐๐ถ ๐พย
Afterwards, we sat outside in the garden making the most of the sunshine! ๐
Morning walk: 1.08 miles
Afternoon walk: 1.18 miles
Altogether = 2.26 miles
Albertโs PitPat: 7.5 miles ๐พ๐ช

Friday 10th Oct Day 10 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจTwo lovely walks for us today โ one in the morning and one in the late afternoon ๐ค๐
The crows joined us again, and there are so many leaves on the ground now โ itโs really starting to feel like autumn ๐๐พ
Morning walk: 1.17 miles
Afternoon walk: 1.05 miles
Total: 2.22 miles ๐๐ป

Day 9
Thursday 9th Oct Day 9 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจA shorter one for us today โ we did 1.34 miles in total, with a little walk in the morning and another in the late afternoon. Plenty of sniffs and two gentle, easy walks for Albert ๐ถ๐
We were out shopping in between ๐ so I didnโt want to overtire my superstar hearing dog, Albert, after his full day of work ๐ย
His PitPat says heโs done 8 miles in total! ๐ฏ
Weโve now raised ยฃ87 plus ยฃ10.75 GiftAid so far, which is absolutely amazing! ๐๐ป

Day 8
Thursday 9th Oct Day 8 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจ (8/10/2025)Today we had a bit of an adventure โ we travelled to a different park by bus and train with our lovely friend who joined us for the day! ๐๐ถ
What a beautiful place it was ๐ Everythingโs starting to look so autumny ๐๐
We walked 2.25 miles from the train station to the park, all the way around the lake, and to the cafรฉ where we stopped for a yummy lunch ๐โ Then we explored a bit more before heading back to the station โ another 0.75 miles!
Total: 3 miles ๐๐ป

Wednesday 8th Oct Day 7 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจA bit of a gloomy one today โ no blue skies or sunshine, just plenty of grey clouds โ๏ธ But that didnโt stop us! We still enjoyed two lovely walks around our local park ๐ณ๐ถ Crows joined us again ๐ฆโโฌ๐

Day 6
Tuesday 7th Oct Day 6 of our Great British Dog Walk is complete! ๐พ๐ฅพโจ (6/10/2025)What a gorgeous autumn day ๐๐ We enjoyed a lovely morning walk before heading out in the afternoon โ a bit of shopping, followed by a meal and a catch-up with our lovely friend ๐๏ธ๐ฝ๏ธ๐ฌ
Albert did plenty of walking throughout the day โ both on our morning stroll and while out and about in his Hearing Dog uniform ๐ถ๐ He takes his job so seriously and always makes me so proud โค๏ธ He even got a few smiles and compliments while working (he absolutely loves the attention!) ๐
Itโs always important to find the right balance between walking and working, making sure Albert doesnโt overdo it ๐งก๐พ

Day 5
Sunday 5th Oct Day 5 of our Great British Dog Walk is done! ๐พ๐ฅพWe had two lovely walks at our local park today โ one in the morning and one in the afternoon! A little windy thanks to Storm Amy, but still such a beautiful day to get out and about ๐ค๏ธ๐จ
Morning walk: 1.28 miles
Afternoon walk: 1.15 miles
Total: 2.43 miles ๐๐ป
There were lots of conkers on the ground โ the wind must have been strong to knock so many down! Donโt worry, Albert didnโt touch them at all ๐. We even spotted some mushrooms ๐ Albert left those alone too!
The crows joined us on our walk ๐ฆ During the COVID lockdown, we made friends with a few crows at the park, and ever since 2020 theyโve sometimes flown over to see us โ even joining us on our walks! ๐ฆ They patiently wait for me to share a few of Albertโs treats (which they love!). Albert doesnโt mind sharing either โ sharing is caring, after all ๐ They donโt follow anyone else, just us (see video!).
We had lots of fun as always, and Albertโs PitPat showed he clocked up 6.3 miles today! ๐ถ๐๐ป

Day 4
Saturday 4th Oct Day 4 of our Great British Dog Walk is done โ indoors this time! ๐ฅพ๐พStorm Amy arrived with plenty of wind and rain today ๐ง๏ธ๐จ, so I decided it was safer for Albert and me to stay indoors โ safety first!
Albertโs been working really hard lately, so today was the perfect opportunity for him to have a well-earned rest day ๐ถ๐. Itโs so important for dogs, especially working dogs like Albert, to have the right balance between activity and rest โค๏ธ
While Albert relaxed (and kept a close eye on me from his comfy bed ๐), I jumped on the treadmill and walked 3.03 miles ๐ช๐๐ป Albert still managed to get some steps in around the house and garden โ his PitPat showed 3.5 miles! ๐พ Not bad for a rest day! ๐ (I didnโt put his collar on until late morning).

Saturday 4th Oct Day 3 of our Great British Dog Walk is done! ๐พ๐ฅพWeโre back home now after a lovely few days away in Blackpool ๐๐พย
Before we headed home, we squeezed in a quick walk around the caravan site ๐๐ถ and once we were back, we carried on with a walk in our local park ๐ณ๐ง Albert enjoyed being back on his familiar paths, sniffing every corner as usual ๐๐๐ถ๐พโจ๏ธ๐๐งก
In total, our walk today came to 2.04 miles ๐๐ป โ while Albert, wearing his PitPat all day, clocked an amazing 7.7 miles ๐พ๐
