To participate in the 2026 Great North Run for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People you must agree the terms and conditions below. These terms constitute the fundraising agreement between Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and you, as a participant.
Taking part
I understand that the event is not organised by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, but by a third party (Great Run Company). It is my responsibility to read any terms and conditions issued by Great Run Company and to comply with these.
I confirm that I am medically fit and that I participate in the event at my own risk. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will not be held responsible for injury or illness resulting from my participation.
All Hearing Dog for Deaf People participants must be aged 18 or over by the event date.
I will contact Hearing Dogs for Deaf People if I am unable to take part in the event and forward any money raised to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People for their work transforming the lives of people who are deaf or have hearing loss.
Fundraising
I will use my best endeavours to raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in connection with my participation in the Great North Run.
I understand and will make clear to those who support my fundraising that any money I send into Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will be treated as a donation and used for the Hearing Dogs’ work with people who are deaf or have hearing loss.
Any fundraising I undertake in connection with my participation in the Great North Run for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will be forwarded to the charity either by cash, cheque, bank transfer or via an online giving provider no later than six weeks after the event.
I will only use lawful means to fundraise for the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and will not bring the charity's names into disrepute. I will observe the following fundraising rules and I will comply with any further rules and requirements about fundraising of which Hearing Dogs for Deaf People notify me:
I will not use the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People or any associated logo without first obtaining permission from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and will allow Hearing Dogs for Deaf People to approve any materials produced whether printed or online.
I will tell my sponsors that I am raising money 'in support of' Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
I will not incur Hearing Dogs for Deaf People any cost, claim, loss or liability.
I will contact Hearing Dogs for Deaf People before conducting any raffle, lottery or public event, and comply with any guidance, guidelines or insurance and legal requirements issued by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in connection with this kind of event.
I will obtain approval from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People before approaching press or celebrities to support my event.
I will secure the necessary approvals prior to undertaking street collections or collections on private property. I understand that house to house collections are not permitted.
I will ensure that I take responsibility for the safe keeping of money raised in Hearing Dogs for Deaf People's name, both during and after the collections, until it is transferred to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and I will:
- Ensure that if collecting cash, it is counted in the presence of at least one witness and that this amount is written, signed by the witness/es and a donation for this amount is sent to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
- Send Hearing Dogs for Deaf People my completed sponsor forms with details of the names and addresses of and amounts donated or pledged by all sponsors no later than six weeks after my event. This will allow Hearing Dogs for Deaf People to process gift aid on donations. (Please note that we will not contact your sponsors)
- Only use sponsorship forms issued by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and not use any other type of sponsorship form (unless otherwise agreed with Hearing Dogs for Deaf People).
Photos
I understand that there may be photography at the event and I give Hearing Dogs for Deaf People permission to reproduce photographic or video images, in which I appear relating to the Great North Run, and the information and quotations from any interviews, in any form, in perpetuity. I agree to these materials being reproduced in any publication or feature, in any media, that furthers the aims of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. I understand that the material will be held on the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’s photo database.
I understand if I do not wish my photograph to be taken and/or used, I should inform Hearing Dogs for Deaf People so that they can make the necessary arrangements. I understand that if I wish to withdraw my consent at any time, I should email events@hearingdogs.org.uk.
I also acknowledge that while Hearting Dogs for Deaf People will use all reasonable endeavours to comply with any such notice of withdrawal of permission it cannot guarantee that materials in public circulation at the date on which the request is received will be withdrawn immediately.
Confirmation
I confirm I have read, understood and agree to all the terms and conditions set out above, and understand Hearing Dogs for Deaf People may terminate our relationship if I am in breach of any of the terms and conditions.
I agree to these terms
