🐾 Running 26.2 Miles for Arlo — and Every Future Hearing Dog

This year, as I turn 40, I’ve decided to take on something big. Something that scares me a little, pushes me a lot, and means the world to people who need it most. I’m running a marathon — not just for myself, but for the incredible hearing dogs who change lives every single day.

One of those dogs is Arlo, a gorgeous puppy currently in training. Arlo is full of curiosity, mischief, and heart — but he’s also on a very serious journey. One day, he’ll become a lifeline for a deaf person, alerting them to vital sounds like smoke alarms, alarm clocks, baby monitors and even intruders. He’ll give someone independence, confidence, and safety. And just as importantly, he’ll offer companionship and emotional support to someone who may often feel isolated or alone.

Arlo’s journey doesn’t happen by magic. It happens because of volunteers — people like my mum and dad — who give their time, patience, and love to help puppies like him grow into calm, clever, reliable partners. They teach Arlo good manners, expose him to everyday environments, help him build confidence, and support him through every stage of his development. Their dedication is part of what makes hearing dogs so extraordinary.

But training a hearing dog from tiny pup to fully qualified partner costs £25,000. It’s a huge commitment — and that’s why my marathon matters.

Every mile I run is for Arlo.

Every mile is for the volunteers who give so much.

Every mile is for the deaf person whose life will one day be transformed.
