I am raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
Amanda’s Kilimanjaro Challenge for Charity
Hello! I’m Amanda, a qualified Veterinary Nurse with over 27 years of experience in the veterinary industry. I’m currently the Clinic Manager at the London Veterinary Clinic, where I have the great privilege of working alongside Dr. Bruce Fogle, one of the world’s most respected voices in veterinary medicine. Bruce is also a best-selling author of more than 40 books translated into over 35 languages, and a lifelong advocate for animal welfare.
Bruce is the co-founder and vice president of
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, a wonderful charity that has spent more than 40
years helping people living with deafness and hearing loss. Their highly
trained dogs alert their partners to important sounds — doorbells, alarms, even
a baby crying and, most importantly, help rebuild confidence and independence.
You can read more about their work at www.hearingdogs.org.uk.
Bruce’s son, Ben Fogle, is an award-winning broadcaster, adventurer, and TV presenter. He is also a Patron of the charity and shares his father’s deep passion for animals.
🧘♀️ About Me
Outside of work, I’m a keen yoga enthusiast and love to challenge myself through animal charity fundraising events from skydiving to wing-walking and even trekking the Inca Trail in Peru!
At home, life is full and lively I share it with my husband, our son Atlas, three cats (Nero, Onyx, and Mango), four tortoises (Toby, Victor, Albert, and Nigel), a bearded dragon named Mushu, two axolotls (Jeffrey and Mavis), and a tank full of fish.
🦵 My Personal Journey
After years of hip problems, I underwent double hip replacement surgery in 2019. Since then, I’ve worked hard to rebuild my strength and confidence. Now, I’m ready to take on my biggest challenge yet climbing Mount Kilimanjaro!
Standing at a breathtaking 5,895 metres, Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s highest free-standing mountains. The climb will push me both physically and mentally, but I’m determined to reach the summit not just for myself, but to raise vital funds for a cause I truly believe in.
💜 Why I’m Doing This
I’m taking on this challenge to honour the incredible work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, and to celebrate how much can be achieved through compassion, resilience, and community support.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward helping this charity continue to train and support dogs who change lives every single day.
🌍 How You Can Help
Please support me on this journey by donating whatever you can. It will mean the world to me, but even more to those who will benefit from the amazing work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Together, we can make a difference one step (and one paw!) at a time.
Thank you so much for your support 💜
Amanda
